Measuring for Curtains

A. Floor Length Curtains
Measure from the curtain track or pole to the floor.
B. ‘Radiator’ Length Curtains
Measure from the curtain track or pole to the radiator. This can also be used if you have a cabinet or another piece of furniture in the way of the curtains.
C. Window Recess Length Curtains
Measure from the curtain track or pole to the inside of the window recess. This can be used if you want the curtains to sit above the window sill.
D. Window Sill Length Curtains
Measure from the curtain track or pole to the window sill. This can be used if you want the curtains to reach the bottom of the window sill.

Once you have one of these ‘Drop’ measurements, all that is left is to measure:
E. The Width inside the window recess
F. The Width of the Curtain Track or Pole
Measuring for Blinds

Step 1: Measure the Width
Measure the width of your window recess in three places – the top, the middle and the bottom.
Use the smallest measurement as your width.

Step 2: Measure the Drop
Measure the drop of your window recess in three places – the top, the middle and the bottom.
Use the smallest measurement as your drop.

Important Note:
If there are obstructions within your recess, e.g. tiles, measure between these two points and use this as your width measurement.
Ensure you have at least a 5cm clearance between the front of your window recess and the edge of any obstructions.
